Modify Detail Component Families for Additional Functionality
The Out of the Box “OOTB” Detail Item (Component) Families are missing some features that can really help in a detailing workflow. Here are a few examples of some improvements we’ve made to a few of the detail item families:
Add Spray Fire Proofing to the Structural Steel Framing Section Detail Components
Create a Vertical Plywood Detail Component

How can I get this feature for spray fireproofing?
We achieved it by editing the existing detail component that came OOTB with Revit, we added a filled region for the spray insulation around the original filled region for the steel component. We used a parameter for the Fire Proofing Thickness and a Fire Proofing Radius parameter at the corners (that uses a formula = “Fire Proofing Thickness /2”).
Because I am new to revit would you be able to provide me with one of your wide flange shapes that I can dissect to show me how its done?
